F.A.Q.

Yes! To take the basic Molchanovs Wave 1 course, you need to be able to swim 200 meters in any style and feel comfortable in open water — ideally even when you can no longer see the bottom beneath you.

If open water or depth causes you strong fear, we recommend working on that first. Sometimes a little practice is enough, and sometimes it takes longer, gentler and more consistent work — especially if you have had an unpleasant or traumatic experience with water. There is absolutely no need to rush.

To start with, we can offer you to try freediving on the introductory course “Try Freediving”. Swimming is not required for it: sessions take place in a pool with a shallow and a deep section, where you can gradually get acquainted with the water, breathing techniques and the basics of freediving in comfortable conditions.

Perhaps this is exactly how your introduction to the underwater world will begin. And you can move on to Wave 1 when you are ready.

Freediving is an exciting sport, but it demands a responsible attitude. With proper training, adherence to safety procedures and instructor supervision, the risks can be reduced significantly, but they can never be eliminated completely.

On the course we learn not only how to dive, but also how to understand the limits of your body, act correctly in the water and follow safety rules. One of the main rules of freediving is never to dive on a breath-hold alone.

No, there is no need to buy anything in advance. We provide all the equipment you need for the duration of the course.

If you already have your own mask, snorkel or fins, you can discuss with the instructor whether they are suitable for training.

Yes, some medical conditions can be a contraindication to freediving or require a doctor's consultation. This applies, for example, to problems with the heart, the respiratory system, the ears or the sinuses.

Before the course you will need to fill out a medical questionnaire. If you have a condition that requires additional assessment, we will ask you to consult a doctor and get their permission to take part. Depending on the situation, the opinion of one or more specialists may be needed.

You can request the medical questionnaire from us in advance, at any time before the course starts, so you can read it calmly and, if necessary, have time to see a doctor.
